CRYENGINE To Get Vulkan & PhysX Support in November, DX12 mGPU Support in February 2022

Crytek updated a few hours ago their CRYENGINE roadmap, revealing quite a few interesting tidbits. CRYENGINE 5.3 is scheduled to go bachelor in mid-Nov, calculation big features like support for Vulkan (graphics and rendering) and PhysX (physics) as well equally providing improvements for SVOGI (Thin Voxel Octree Global Illumination), the voxel based GI solution that nosotros've reported on many months ago.

The next iteration, CRYENGINE 5.4, is planned for belatedly February 2022 to coincide with the Game Developers Conference. Its major new characteristic volition undoubtedly exist the addition of back up for DirectX 12 MultiGPU, though it is unclear if Crytek is referring here to the MultiAdapter engineering that allows developers to use both discrete and integrated GPUs at the aforementioned time. And so far, no game has properly implemented this yet, which is a shame equally information technology would be a complimentary (admitting minor) performance gain for all those gamers who have both a detached and an integrated GPU in their arrangement.

There'southward besides a third tab which details the enquiry and evolution Crytek is currently doing. In here we found several intriguing features such equally 3D Positional Audio VOIP Inquiry, investigation in audio propagation and dynamic reverberation, back up for iOS/Metallic (Mac), support for SpeedTree, material simulation and soft torso improvements for physics as well as a VR editor and new cinematic pipeline.

While CRYENGINE isn't quite as popular as Unity or Unreal Engine among developers, there are a few high profile releases coming upwards in the adjacent months powered by Crytek'due south engine. These are Kingdom Come up: Deliverance (though that one is using CRYENGINE 3, which they deemed to be more advanced, rather than V), Prey and Sniper: Ghost Warrior three, all of them due in 2022.
